In Memory Of
Cathy Cline
1951 - 2016

Cathy Ann Cline passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at her home in Olathe, KS, after a life well-lived that ended with a year-long struggle against ovarian cancer.
Cathy was born on January 9, 1951, in Springfield, MO, to Willis Glen and Anna Margaret Deck. She grew up in Springfield and attended Hillcrest High School, where she graduated in 1969. She had an older sister, Glenna, with whom—though separated by ten years—she remained very close throughout her life.

During her senior year in high school, she was introduced to the love and partner of her life, Gerald (Gary) Cline, and the two were married just a short time later on July 18, 1969.

Her first son, Brian, was born on July 12, 1970, and Brandon followed on February 17, 1975. Motherhood was her highest calling, and she was a dedicated and loving mother to her two boys. She spent countless hours cooking for her family, volunteering for school activities, and shuttling her boys to music lessons and ballgames. Cathy also worked part-time in various fields. She attended cosmetology school and practiced as a beautician for several years. She worked for over a decade in the accounting department at the Assemblies of God headquarters in Springfield. After Gary was transferred to Olathe, KS, with BNSF Railway, Cathy served as a Billing Manager at College Park Family Care Center of Overland Park. In every place Cathy worked, she gained innumerable friends and graced their lives with much kindness and laughter.

In her retirement, Cathy enjoyed showering her beloved grandbabies with love and gifts, organizing social events for her dear friends at the Courts of Fairfield, and volunteering for local charities, including collecting backpacks for Mission Southside, rocking babies in the Overland Park Regional NICU, and helping cancer patients at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; sister, Glenna McDaniel of Nixa, MO; son Brian and his wife, Joanna, of Gardner, KS; son Brandon and his wife, Patricia Duncan, of Fort Worth, TX; and three precious grandchildren: Emerson, Edy, and Vivian. She is also survived by two adoring shih tzus, George and Gracie.

A service of memory and gratitude will take place at 11:00 AM on Wed, August 17th, at Vista Baptist Church at 901 North Parker in Olathe, KS 66061. Immediately following the service, all who are able are invited to stay for a light lunch and an informal time of sharing memories and stories of Cathy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable gifts be made in Cathy’s memory to Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City or to Brite Divinity School, the theological school at Texas Christian University for the education of ministers and chaplains.
