Dr. Haven C. Krueger, 83 of Overland Park, KS (formerly of Great Bend, KS) passed Thurs. Aug. 18, 2016.

Haven was born September 27, 1932, in Wichita, KS to Harry and Edith Krueger. Haven graduated from Wichita State University with a BA in Spanish.
He went on to attend the University of Kansas where he obtained a master’s degree in Spanish and began his PhD program before studying medicine. He married Ruby, and completed his Doctor of Medicine. His military service took place in El Paso, TX prior to his internship at the Mayo clinic. He was in a joint practice in Kansas City before moving to Great Bend, Kansas, where he began his own pediatric practice. He returned to Kansas City in 1985 to work with Kaiser Permanente through his retirement in 1998.

Retirement years were spent mostly in Great Bend. After a number of trips abroad with Ruby, Haven returned to teaching. He taught at Great Bend High School and Barton County Community College. He taught Spanish, Latin, Italian, French, and Russian. Haven was an accomplished organist, pianist, and composer, having composed more than 600 musical compositions. His love of music began at the age of three and brought joy to many throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby in 2008, mother Edith in 2007, father Cal in 1976, and brother Harry 1999.

He is survived by his four children Michael (Jacque) Krueger, Elisabeth (Greg) Krueger-Luthi, Lisa (Randall) Schober, and Bryan Krueger; seven grandchildren: Angela (Robbie) Delzeit, Marcus (Aimee) Krueger, Michael (Ashley) Schober, Jeffrey (Carmen) Schober, Joshua, Nicholas, and Samuel Luthi; and three great grandchilden: Braxton and Everly Delzeit and Maddox Krueger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Kansas City Hospice House.
