Jessie Brokaw
1938 - 2016

Jessie L. Brokaw passed away Monday, September 26, 2016, at KC Hospice House after a two year battle with ovarian cancer. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, September 30, at College Church of the Nazarene in Garrett Chapel, 2020 Sheridan St, Olathe, KS 66062. Visitation prior at 10:00am. Burial will be 11:00am Monday, October 3rd at Glenwood Cemetery, Glen Elder, KS.

Jessie was a late in life baby, the sixth child, born to Clyde and Rosa Tyrrell on June 10, 1938. A tomboy, she grew up in Cawker City, KS where her father ran a barber shop and her mother was a cook at the diner. After graduation from Cawker City High School in 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Arden Brokaw, in Glen Elder, KS on December 22, 1957. She was a day care provider while her two children were growing up and in later years worked for the Nazarene Publishing House. She retired in 1995 to help care for her newborn grandson. Her husband, Arden, was in an automobile accident in February 1998 that left him quadriplegic and ventilator dependent. Jessie lovingly cared for him in their home until his death in October 2001. Mrs. Brokaw was a member of College Church of the Nazarene and was saved alongside her husband on June 8, 1958. Jessie's church and her relationship with God were important to her. She loved the old hymns and could often be found singing and praying while doing the dishes.

Jessie leaves behind a daughter, Debra; grandson, Trey; granddaughter, Keri and husband Garrett; great-grandchildren Cooper, Caden, and Avery. She will be missed.
