Hoke Randall Knox of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home from complications of Parkinson’s disease on Monday October 3rd, he was 70 years old.

Hoke was born on August 3rd, 1946 in Greenville, North Carolina to James Devenwood and Arlene McGlohon Knox who both preceded him in death. He was the oldest of four children, Phyllis Melton, Keith Knox, and Darlene McLawhorn who passed away early last year.

He was a loving husband and faithful friend to his wife of 43 years, Joan Knox, a retired music teacher from the Olathe School District; 4 children and 6 grandchildren: daughter Karen, her husband Matt Buhrle and their children Ian and Miles (Olathe, KS); son Steve and his wife Meghan (Sydney, Australia); son Kevin, his wife Nikki and their children Zander and Judah (Oakland, California); daughter Sarah, her husband Brandon Taylor and their children Savannah and Blake (El Dorado, KS).

Hoke honorably served in the Army during Vietnam where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star and four other service medals.

Hoke worked at Carolina Telephone from 1971 - 1989, and then relocated with the Sprint Corporation to Kansas City where he worked until retirement in April of 2006.

Hoke was a strong Christian who actively shared his faith and served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon in local congregations where he lived. Hoke most recently served as an Elder and Deacon Chairman for Blue Valley Baptist Church in Overland Park, KS.

The visitation is from 1-2pm Saturday the 8th of October, at Blue Valley Baptist Church - 8925 W 151st Street, Overland Park, KS 66221 - with the funeral immediately following at 2pm.

A private burial will be held for family at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park, KS following the funeral.
