Steven "Steve" Jacobsma, 58, of Shawnee, passed away on November 01, 2016. He was born on October 05, 1958 to Vernon and Donna (Smidt) Jacobsma in Primghar, Iowa.

Although born in Iowa, he spent most of his childhood and youth in California. Upon graduation from high school, Steve attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. He really liked the seasonal changes in Michigan and decided to remain there. Several years ago he transferred with ADT to Lenexa, KS. It was through his job with ADT that he and Gina met. He and Gina were married July 31, 2015.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Gina; children: Molly (Jeremy) Triemstra, St. Joseph, MI; Eric (Sarah) Jacobsma, Kalamazoo, MI; Kelly (Chad) Broekhuis, Kalamazoo, MI. parents: Vernon and Donna Jacobsma, Ripon, CA; siblings: Brad (Gayle) Jacobsma, Ripon, Ca and Rhonda (Charlie) Byma, Zeeland, MI and many nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends for a visitation from 11:00-12:00pm on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, with the memorial service following at 12:00 pm.

Steve was known to be generous and kind. One of the things he often did was to randomly give cash to others he felt were in need. He would be pleased if those who loved him would begin to carry on this tradition.
