In Memory Of
Carolyn Anne Wyhs
1943 - 2017
Carolyn graduated from St. Teresa’s Academy in 1961 and married in 1962. That marriage produced two daughters. Her knack for sewing found the girls frequently dressed in matching outfits. Her creative side was also expressed through pottery, needlepoint, sewing and photography. Thirty years ago, she met her second husband the love of her life, Bruce John Wyhs. Bruce and Carolyn enjoyed many memorable trips, time at the lake and adventures together. You could often find Carolyn at her kitchen table completing the daily crossword puzzle, reading a book or browsing online.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband Bruce; daughters, Teresa Tulipana and Laura Grochowsky; son-in-law, Keith Grochowsky; grandchildren Ian Grochowsky and Erin Grochowsky; siblings and their spouses John (Eleanor) Ruder, Carl (Pam) Ruder, Mikki Massey (Bill) Hiles and Charles (Paula) Ruder; father-in-law, John Wyhs, and sister-in-law Nancy Wyhs.
She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Rosalie Wyhs, as well as siblings Alan Ruder, Mary Huggler and James (Jim) Ruder.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, February 13, 2017, from 10:00-11:00am at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, KS. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am, with burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Hospice House at Olathe Medical Park, 15310 S. Marion St., Olathe, KS 66061 are requested.
