In Memory Of
Charles R "Charlie" Schuster
1945 - 2017

Charles R. Schuster, 71, of Overland Park, KS, passed away March 20, 2017 surrounded by his family.

Charlie was born October 18, 1945 in Marshall, Missouri to Henry and Sarah Schuster. He attended Wichita East High School and the University of Kansas, later graduating from Wichita State University with a degree in Sociology and a Masters Degree in Anthropology.

On January 18, 1969, Charlie married Barbara Scheffler of Newton, KS. Later that year, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent in 1971.

Charlie began his work career at Sears where he worked for nearly fifteen years before deciding to leave to work for the family business, Arrowhead Business Machines. Eventually, Charlie took over as President and CEO and for nearly 18 years was known to treat every single employee like family. An early "retirement" meant getting up before the sun for another 13 years as the General Manager for the Overland Park Golf Club.

Charlie enjoyed coaching his son's baseball teams, traveling, gardening, lounging in the pool, attending Royals games, eating ice cream, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Charlie was proceeded in death by his parents. Surviving family members include Barbara, his wife of 48 years, son, Justin and his wife, Lisa, his grandchildren, Austin and Alaina, honorary son, Allen Wesley, and many aunts and uncles.

Charlie's passion for helping others will be his everlasting legacy. His kindness and generosity will be forever remembered. He never met a stranger and was known to open his home and offer opportunities to those in need. He will truly be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Prarie Elder Care and Ascend Hospice. Mandy, Michala, and staff treated Charlie like family by giving him an immeasurable amount of dignity and love.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association
