1915 - 2017

Dale E Rockey, 101, of Olathe, KS passed away on April 3, 2017 at Olathe Medical Center. He was born on June 18, 1915 in Hemingford, NE to Earl and Gladys (Danbom) Rockey.

Dale is survived by his five sons, James (Deanie) Rockey, Poquoson, VA, Bruce (Sally) Rockey, Hastings, NE, Tom (Sandy) Rockey, Olathe, KS, John (Loretta) Rockey, Harrisonville, MO and Michael (Wendy) Rockey, Oklahoma City, OK. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, eight (and counting) great-great grandchildren.

Dale was proceeded in death by Alice (Planansky) Rockey, his loving wife of 81 years and his sister Marilyn (Rockey) Athey, granddaughter, Stacy Rockey and a host of dear friends.

Prior to his retirement in 1979 from Cover Jones Ford in Alliance NE, Dale had followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps in serving the public with their automobile needs.

Dale was a religious man who converted to the Catholic Faith in 1954. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degree. During those years Dale held most if not all the offices of the 3rd and 4th Degrees.

Dale and Alice traveled extensively. After two trips to Europe, including a memorable visit to the Vatican they enjoyed traveling with their camper. Lots of visits with family and fishing trips. When the fish were not biting, a short trip north to the Casino was always an option. After being residents of “The Great State of Nebraska” for 88 years, Dale and Alice moved to Olathe, KS.

Dale will always be remembered as a patient and humorous gentleman who told wonderful stories! He will be missed!

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. Rosary and visitation at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Alliance, NE.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be given to St. Paul’s Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Agnes Academy, Alliance, NE
