LOLA MAE (KOPFMAN) NUESSEN, age 81, passed away April 21, 2017 in Olathe, KS. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 900 Honeysuckle, Olathe, KS with visitation an hour prior to service time. Graveside service will follow at 2:30pm at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center or St. Paul Catholic Church. Lola was born March 22, 1936 in Virgil, KS to Carl F. and Winne R. (Matlock) Kopfman. She attended school in Madison, KS, and then married Edward J. Nuessen on November 12, 1955 in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Madison, KS. Throughout her life, Lola resided in Madison, KS for 18 years, Emporia, KS for 4 years, and eventually settled in Olathe, KS with her husband in 1959.




Lola and Edward were blessed with 5 children; Richard "Dick" Nuessen of Paola, KS, Melvin "John" (Micky) Nuessen of Pleasant Hill, MO, Donna (Rich) Senst of Spring Hill, KS, Cynthia (Steve) Condron of Ottawa, KS, and Roberta "Bobbi" (Dennis) Deeney of Kansas City, MO, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Jack (Joyce) Kopfman and Carl "Ray" (Karen) Kopfman, and many nieces, nephews and a large, loving extended family.




She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter-in-law, Beverly Nuessen, son-in-law, Ronald Rinehart, and extended family members.




Lola was employed with King Radio/Bendix King/ Honeywell for 32 years, and was Vice-President of the Communication Workers of America, Local Union. She was also a long-time member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe, KS.




Lola enjoyed collecting bells, growing roses in her garden, and spending time with her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. Because of Lola's giving and caring spirit, her family remembers how she made their house a home filled with love.
