Gussie I. Lackey Davis, 94, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away at Olathe Medical Center on October 29, 2017.

Gussie was born January 10, 1923, in Hillsdale, Kansas, to Thomas F. Lackey and Elsie E. Savage.

Gussie married Dean Davis of Olathe, Kansas, and together they became the parents of eight children: Gary, Alan, Dennis, Darlene, Richard, Bud, Denise, and Patty Davis. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage before Dean’s death in 1993.

Gussie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, two brothers William and Keith Lackey, three sons Gary, Richard, Bud Davis, two granddaughters Gail Franks, Crystal Davis and one great grandson Alexander Mullins.

Gussie is survived by five children: Alan (Kathy) Davis, Dennis (Mary) Davis, Darlene (Thomas) Franks, Denise Davis, Patty (Rex) Schick, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Up until the time of her death, Gussie was surrounded by the things she loved most – family, flowers and birds. She loved to talk about the past and many old friendships she made and enjoyed all her treasures from years of collecting.

We would like to thank Dr. Darrin Davis and his staff at Associates in Family Care of Olathe for their devotion to Gussie all these years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
