David A. Allen, 65, of Olathe (most recently Hilo, Hawaii), passed away on March 29, 2018. He was born on October 26, 1952 to Robert and Lois Allen in Jefferson City, MO.

Dave enjoyed teaching Biology in the Natural Sciences Department at Johnson County Community College. When he retired he “hit the road” on an extended trip through the Southwest and West Coast eventually landing in Hawaii. He began travelling in the Hawaiian Islands, eventually picking the Big Island as his home. Dave loved science, especially evolutionary biology and geology. His happiest times were spent outdoors walking, exploring, and camping. He loved climbing mountains and listening to the ocean. His time in “the islands” were where he felt most at home.

Dave is survived by his daughter, Megan and her husband, Justin Cook and son, Justin DiPaola-Allen and his wife Becca Stenerson, one granddaughter, Adelyn Cook, and two brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Allen and brother Michael Allen.
