He was born on July 10, 1936, to Don and Mary Maddux in Buffalo, MO.
On July 31, 1955, he married Martha Dean Hurst. Don and Martha lived in the Kansas City area most of their married life and in Olathe, KS since 1973.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Martha; daughter, Cindi (Kirk) Brown; son, Greg (Terri) Maddux; grandchildren, Mark (Kristi) Brown, Amy (Jasper) Yai, Charlie (Cynthia) Maddux, and Lindsey Maddux; great-grandchildren, Maddie, Jake and Emma Brown, Sophie and Joey Yai; brother, Howard (Catherine) Maddux; sisters, Rosalie (Bill) Franklin and Linda (Jack) Howard; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be missed greatly and remembered as a successful businessman, entrepreneur and mentor, but above all, a generous and loving husband, father and loyal friend. His passions in life included travel, golf, fishing and music, but most of all, family, friends and faith in God.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at New Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church in Overland Park. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the Maddux Memorial Fund benefiting worthy students at Midland Adventist Academy. Payments should be made to “MAA” with a memo note of “Maddux Memorial Fund." The address for Midland Adventist Academy is 6915 Maurer Road, Shawnee, KS 66217.
