William C. Rock 70, of Olathe, KS passed Thurs. July 5, 2018, at Overland Park Regional Hospital. No services are scheduled at this time.

William was born January 17, 1948, in Uniontown, PA to William Rock Jr. and Patricia Rock. Known to most as Rock or Bill, he enjoyed motorcycles, golf and “busting chops”.

William enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 as a Private and served in combat during Vietnam, working his way to rank of Sergeant. His awards included the Navy Achievement Medal with Valor and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was a lifetime member of the VFW (Post 7397) and the Khe Sanh Veterans.

William attended Morehead State University in Morehead, KY and graduated in 1975 with a degree in Political Science. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. William and Paula met at Morehead State and were married on May 10, 1975, in Morehead, KY.

William worked for CSX Transportation, starting in the mid-1960’s as a Trackman and retiring as an Account Manager after 40 years. Bill’s work took him, Paula and later their girls from Glen Burnie, MD to Newport News, VA; Bridgeport, WV; Akron, OH; Miamisburg, OH; St. Louis, MO and finally to Olathe, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Paula Rock of Olathe, KS; his daughters Sara Rock (Scott Stewart) and Tricia Rock (Brent Carter) and grandson Lucian Rock Stewart of Lawrence, KS; and his sisters Beverly Rock of Smyrna, GA, Betty Haines of Cumberland, MD and Conni Mingus of Niceville, FL.
