1944 - 2015

William (Bill) George Riek, 71, of Warsaw, MO, passed away on March 16, 2015 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS, following a year-long battle with lung cancer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society (Relay For Life), and sent in care of Melissa Fletcher, 809 S. Hunter Dr., Olathe, KS 66061.

He was born on February 12, 1944 in Clay Center, KS to William and Florence (Bertsch) Riek, was raised in Clay Center, KS and moved to Olathe, KS in his early twenties to pursue his lifelong career as a truck driver.

Bill worked for many different trucking companies throughout his life, all with the Teamsters Local #41, ultimately retiring from Hyman Freight in 1996.
Bill was an active community volunteer, always helping out with whatever his community, family or friends asked him to help with. One of his proudest achievements was as a volunteer firefighter in Cole Turkey Acres, Warsaw, MO.

He was also active with the Eagles Lodge, and was elected to the President of the F.O.E. 700. He was also a Master Mason of the 32nd Degree with the Shriner's International and a Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

William is survived by his wife of 46 years, Faye (Burch) Riek, daughter Cynthia (Riek) Heitman and her husband Fred Heitman, his son William Riek III, and his wife Evonne (Reynolds) Riek, his daughter Melissa (Riek) Fletcher and her husband Richard Fletcher; two special grand-daughters Jordan Fletcher and Grace Riek, and too many friends to count.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Phyllis Riek.

Bill's favorite times were spent with family and friends at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was a devoted husband, loving father, playful Papa and caring friend.
