In Memory Of
Alice Rockey
1916 - 2015

Alice A. Rockey, 99, of Olathe, KS passed away on April 8, 2015 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. She was born on January 2, 1916 in Hemingford, NE to Joseph and Anna Planansky. Joseph and Anna (Stumpf) Planansky came to the United States from Czechoslovakia, (what is now the Czech Republic) in the early 1900’s.

Alice is survived by her loving husband of 81 years Dale, five sons, James (Deanie) Rockey, Poquoson, VA, Bruce (Sally) Rockey, Hastings, NE, Thomas (Sandy) Rockey, Olathe, KS, John (Loretta) Rockey, Harrisonville, MO, Michael (Wendy) Rockey, Oklahoma City, OK, and one brother, Wilmer Planansky, Cayucos, CA. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, seven (and counting) great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters Florence, Regina, Mildred, and Joan and four brothers, Joseph Oscar, Edward, and Leonard, one granddaughter, Stacy Rockey and a host of dear friends.

After retirement in 1979, Alice and Dale traveled extensively. After two trips to Europe, including a memorable visit to the Vatican they enjoyed traveling with their camper. Lots of visits with family and fishing trips. When the fish were not biting, a short trip north to the Casino was always an option!

Alice will always be remembered as a loving, caring, and deeply religious woman who loved life and sharing her great gift of hospitality with all who crossed her path. Her family will remember her as the “Grammar Patrol” and best Kolache and Houska maker in the world!

A funeral mass will be celebrated on April 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. Rosary at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Olathe, KS.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Agnes Academy, Alliance, NE, Olathe Good Samaritan Society or St. Paul’s Catholic Church Building Fund.
