Roxie was born Feb. 2, 1924 in Phelps County, MO to Benjamin Franklin and Mary Jane Gabel. She graduated from Newburg High School, Newburg, MO in 1942. After High School she taught for many years in small 1 and 2 room school houses. After graduating from Drury College in Springfield, MO in 1967, she went on to teach for the Hazelwood School District retiring in 1983. Roxie married Sherman LaVarne Tucker Aug. 8, 1943 in Phelps County, MO. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church, Rolla, MO, Salem Baptist Church, Florissant, MO, and then Blue Valley Baptist Church Ridgeview Campus, Olathe, KS.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and son Sherman Gabel Tucker, 2 sisters, Ruby Viola King (Roxie’s identical twin sister), Wanda Lea Marsh and 1 brother Karl Franklin Gabel.
She is survived by her 2 daughters Clara Maddox and husband Ralph (Olathe, KS) and Linda Stewart and husband Les (Indianapolis, IN). 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 brothers Kenneth Gabel (St. James, MO) and Lester Gabel (Byrnes Mill, MO).
