She was born in Sedalia, MO on September 23, 1946. She is preceded in her life journey by her parents Robert and Elynn Seelen of Sedalia, MO. She graduated from Smith Cotton High School in 1964. She was happily married to Tom Trueman, on December 30, 1967.
Joyce has been a resident of Olathe KS since 1980 and previously lived in Jefferson City, MO. She has been an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 40 years. Her great loves were her grandchildren, cooking for family and friends, cross-stitching, reading mystery novels, solving cross-words, and spending quality time with her life-long friends. She also had a flare for writing poems and funny memoires.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband Tom, daughters Katherine (Kat) Gardner and Kristen Wright also from Olathe, KS. Siblings, Jim Seelen and Julie Seelen both of Overland Park, KS, and Jeff Seelen of Sedalia, MO. Grandchildren Brandon and Peyton Wright, and Miranda and Sophia Gardner also from Olathe, KS.
Services will be held, Friday July 31, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel, in Olathe at 2:00pm followed by a reception celebrating her life. The family welcomes family and friends to attend and share your memories.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Olathe Medical Center Hospice House for their support in her final days.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice House of Olathe Medical Center.
