Alice was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Ocheltree, KS to Guy and Bessie Duffield. She graduated from Spring Hill High school. She married Francke Hartley in 1951 in Olathe, KS and shortly thereafter moved to Oakland, CA before returning to Olathe, KS where Francke was stationed at the Olathe Naval Air Station. Francke and Alice opened Olathe Sewing Center in the early 1960’s where they worked together for many years. Francke and Alice were members of the First United Presbyterian Church in Olathe. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francke Hartley, son Brian Hartley, sisters; Dorothy Spryute, Betty Spencer, and Margaret Surber as well as her brothers; John, Cliff, Calvin and Clarence Duffield.
She is survived by her daughter Melinda Winter and son Bruce Hartley (Shirley), 2 grandchildren; Michael Wallen (Becky) and Michelle Gardini (Ludo) and 3 great grandchildren; Aidan, Olivia, and Aurora. She is also survived by her brother Art Duffield (Marie).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
