He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Anita Ann Cathcart Havener, of the home in Olathe, KS, two step-children, Samuel Levi Barisich, of Kansas City, MO, and Sarah Ann Welch, of Los Angeles, CA and four grandchildren, Braydon, Brendan, Brandon and Brock Welch, all of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by two brothers, Leroy James Havener of Blue Springs, MO, and Ronald Ray Havener, of Olathe, KS, 7 nieces and nephews, and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
He attended elementary, junior high and high school in Fredonia, KS, where he graduated in 1971. He attended Coffeyville Junior College, on a band scholarship, graduating in 1973. He then attended Kansas State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1975.
He worked in several engineering positions throughout his career, his final one being Honeywell International, Avionics Division in Olathe, KS for 28 years.
His hobbies included sailing, gardening, model aviation, woodworking and tinkering with his 1982 Toyota Supra. He was a motorcycle enthusiast all of his life.
In lieu of flowers or plants, donations may be given to the Multi-System Atrophy Parkinsonian Association or Crossroads Hospice. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
