Donald "Don" Snyder
1945 - 2016

Donald “Don” Clifford Snyder, 70, of Olathe, KS passed away on May 13, 2016 after a long battle with kidney cancer. Don was born July 19, 1945 to Rose and Cliff Snyder in Kansas City, MO. He was a graduate of Bishop Miege High School and attended the University of Kansas before enlisting in the Army. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awarded the bronze star. After Army service, he completed his degree at Emporia State and began a career as an insurance claims adjustor. His longest tenures were with MFA and American Family. Don transitioned to hospital security where he worked at Trinity Lutheran Hospital, Menorah Medical Center, and Olathe Medical Center, from which he retired in 2012. He was passionate about his backyard birds and was a life-long loving dog-owner. He was kind, funny, and loved by many.

Don is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marilyn Kay, two children, Donald H. (Jennifer) of Olathe, KS, and Michael of Kansas City, MO, sister, Joan Marie, and four grandchildren: Andrew, Emily, Nicholas, and Zoey. His parents preceded him in death. A visitation will be held at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 Blackbob Rd., Olathe, KS on Wed, May 18 at 5:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Thurs, May 19 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Olathe, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are suggested.
