Dolores Duddy
1935 - 2013

Dolores “Honey” Duddy (formerly Dolores Sachsenmaier) passed away in her sleep on February 7th in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Dolores was born on July 11, 1935 in Rockaway Beach, NY. She married Eugene (Gene) Sachsenmaier in 1956 in New York City. Together they had three daughters Toby, Theresa (TC) and Christine (Chrissy). She had the opportunity to live and travel widely, moving to Ridgewood NJ, then Zurich, Switzerland, before settling in Shawnee, KS for a little more than a decade. Later she moved back to her beach roots, buying a house on the water in Breezy Point, NY. In 2005 she moved to Olathe KS to be close to her daughters.
Dolores was full of adventure. She started a new career with British Airways in New York when she was 55 years old. Newly divorced she built a new life for herself and traveled the world while doing it. Twice she flew on the Concorde to Europe; she flew to Holland to see the tulips in bloom, she’d seen Vatican City and the Holy land, the Pyramids of Egypt, she skied in the Swiss Alps, stomped grapes in Italy, and soaked up the sun in the Greek isles. She also spent time in Ireland where her daughter Toby lives.
Dolores passed away in Puerto Vallarta where she spent her winters for a number of years. She was fortunate to be spared any long illness and had just had a fun day with friends laughing and reminiscing. She went to bed with laughter and died peacefully in her sleep.
Dolores is survived by her two daughters Toby Sachsenmaier (Steve) and Chris Baker (Mike), her former husband Gene Sachsenmaier, grandchildren Kacee and Ashley Knedlik, and Jordan and Nicholas Baker, great-grandchildren Dakoda and Drake Knedlik and her adoring canine companion Murphy. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Theresa in 2007. Donations, if desired, can be made to KCPetConnect.
