Vita Mignon Scribner Goppert

Vita Goppert, 94, Olathe, KS died November 13, 2014 at her home. Vita Mignon Scribner Goppert was born to Charlie Howard Scribner and Cecil Viola McLean Scribner November 26, 1919 in Denver, CO. During Vita’s early life the family moved about the Midwest, finally settling in Fayette, MO. In 1940 Vita and her parents moved to Kansas City, MO. Her major employer was General Motors Acceptance Corporation where she was secretary to the Regional Finance Manager. She and Clarence Goppert were married from 1957 until 1988. The greater Kansas City area was their home until they moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1982. Vita remained in AZ until February of 2008 when she moved to Santa Marta in Olathe, KS.

Elegant, vibrant and graceful, Vita took pride being the consummate hostess. Anyone visiting her home was entertained with class and served wonderful cuisine. Always tastefully dressed, even if there was no special occasion, Vita’s sense of style was unsurpassed.

Vita had an unquenchable thirst for life and for giving back to the communities in which she lived. She served on the board of the Goppert Foundation from 1957 until 1988 and became the first female board member of Avila College. While residing in Arizona she was an active volunteer in her Scottsdale parish and at Liberty Wildlife Rehabilitation. Vita was invited to become a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, Western USA Lieutenancy. Vita quietly supported numerous other Catholic and community charities.

Vita parents, three brothers, Charlie Francis, Ralph Howard, and Forest Cecil, and a sister Echo Viola Jones all predeceased her. She is survived by nieces, nephews, friends, and dedicated nurses.

Visitation will be held November 22, 2014 at 9:15 A. M. in the rotunda at Santa Marta located at 13800 W 116th St, Olathe, KS 66062. Memorial services will follow at 10:00 A. M. in the Santa Marta Chapel. Memorials may be given to University of St. Mary, Liberty Wildlife, or Avila University.
